A terrace overlooking the Chianti Classico

Vineyards, woods, and olive groves: these are the gentle Chianti hills that can be admired from the large terrace of our restaurant. La Cantinetta is located in Rignana, in the heart of the Chianti Classico, between Panzano and Mercatale Val di Pesa — an enchanting area where nature and human presence coexist in perfect harmony.

The first settlements of the hamlet date back to the 10th century, when the Rignana Estate was mentioned in several documents as one of the castles belonging to the historic League of Val di Greve.

Our History

A passion for good things has always been part of our home. My father, who initially ran a grocery shop in the San Frediano district — one of the most authentic and characteristic neighborhoods in Florence — opened his first restaurant in the 1980s together with my mother. Their love for cooking was passed down to me and, today, at La Cantinetta it translates into quality, simplicity, and that culinary authenticity that has made our region renowned around the world.

The dishes we offer trace paths of excellence through the Chianti: they tell its story, evoke its aromas, and bring tradition back to the table. We cook the way it was once done, drawing on the secrets of rural, traditional cuisine. Each dish is prepared exclusively with seasonal ingredients, and our goal is to enhance their authentic flavors to offer you small moments of delight with every bite.
